my radio programme is still thursdays throughout the spring and summer, from 5-7pm on chmr.ca. i've featured some particularily interesting new artists, as i attempt to do every week here in st. john's. the rpm challenge had some inspiring artists also create music here in the city for the http://www.rpmchallenge.com/ in february 2010. i also completed 10 tracks at the clashcontrast link, although i did not complete the challenge, as all music was to have been orignally created in 2010. two tracks were created in edmonton in 2009.
my visual art and literary works are being maintained and i add new material as often as i can conclude.
working otherwise, and have plans too complete my masters this fall at memorial in folklore.

Tuesday Salad:
-tomatoes and onions, mixed with coarsley chopped mushrooms.
-Dressing
-Yougurt mixed with cumin.

Monday Cream Cheese and Cilantro Dip:
I N G R E D I E N T S:
7 tablespoons picked coriander (cilantro) leaves
3 garlic cloves crushed1/2 lemon sliced
1 cup Elysian Isle Avocado Oil5
1/4 tablespoons roasted cashews
3.5 tablespoons parmesan cheesesalt and freshly ground pepper
I N S T R U C T I O N S:
Pick coriander and wash, place in food processor with garlic and lemon juice and blend until well combined. Drizzle oil into the mixture whilst machine is blending, add cashews and cheese to give a course texture. Season with salt and pepper. Use as a dipping sauce, antipasto platters or in soups.

Socio-anthropological/folkloric theories:

- Historical-geographic dissemination in North-America. Vortices of energy (reasons as to their existence generally antiquated) disseminated amongst the populous, catalysed and buffered by oral tradition, spiritual groups, electronic frequencies, government officials. Lore evolving through a variety of testimonial evidences as to audio-visual disturbances in real time (somehow evolving outside of the hidden realm of folkloric past)
- When uncontained, effects of these different vortexes were experienced by different individuals in different ways, such as: degrees of mental illness, stories of supernatural phenomena, hallucinations of a narcotic variety (ie. psybocilin), kept secret, exorcised, researched within a scientific framework.
- Radio and television frequencies were a seemingly good hidden installation, buffering the sources through the multitudinous channels and stations, hidden and disseminated through layers of music, sound, image and voice. When certain groups began to solicit and illicit the energy vortexes hidden within the sonic and visual realms, the visual and auditory experiences amongst the populous were increasingly heightened to differing degrees more and more often, en masse.
- What began to happen to only a few individuals (and lore resulting therein) began to happen to more and more people as if amplified and/or magnified. More and more of the North-American continent began to experience differing degrees of the vortexes' psychosis. Reasons as to how these vortexes could be used within a contemporary framework, were unavailable and the mass public was not notified as to the intent, nature or raison d'etre, of the vortexes.
- As is known in folklore, the masses began to create a lore separate of government or scientific reasoning, on how to approach the effect or affectation of the excess energy (ie. inherently audio-visual). Traditions in dance, vocal intonation, semantics (socio-linguistics), metaphysics, cybernetics (technological), evolved as a way to not only explain the everyday presence of this new vivid energy but also a way for some to adapt to and assimilate, its reality and presence. A folklore shared began to emerge (folkloric communities, or ethnic scopes) yet never entirely overtly self-realised; still somewhat of a "magic-realism".
-Lore of aliens, ghosts, CIA prototypes gone awry, Urban Marvel characters,government secrecy, brainwashing, zombies, fairies, Christian dichotomies of God vs. Satan, etc were used to describe the amplified audio-visual experiences gradually escalating amidst the populous, albeit not all conducive of diagnosable mental illness.
-Some began to tell others, as first person narrators of witnessed testimonial, as to how it is that they were able to buffer or catalyse their own personal audio-visual excess, to whatever use, in contemporary society. The energy was generally the main premise although the continuum notion was different for each individual, and developed into a shared folklore within different communities through interaction. From daily life to evening relaxation, people were telling others as to how to rid one's self of, or accumulate the excess energy and how to adapt. Some more evolved groups within the vortices's were assimilating others (whether legally or illegally), so as to group and adapt in numbers, ie. the notion of "strength in numbers", shared knowledge en masse, commonalities within folk groups. Everything from cooking to singing, watching television, and listening to the radio, affected one's kinetics and senses because of this newly evolving zeitgeist of excess.
- How one group reacted to another also began to evolve into something of a competitive encounter (indigenous groups based around vortice excess, and cross-cultural exchange),a kind of social inclination as to who was utilizing the excess to self-actualize, or further and perpetuate their belief system (again these groups evolving under the government's containment umbrella). But wherein computers have become an advantage within our technological evolution, the folkloric continuum also led to the Internet, and World Wide Web.

Politics/Psychology:

- Because of the knowledge inherent of the accumulated illegalities within the obvious fluidity of the vortexes' energy capacities, modems, radios, televisions, frequencies etc., laws of dissemination or resonating nature were not yet fully realised and strictly adhered to by the populous in general, and en masse, almost as if it were acceptable to purport an anarchic presence audio-visually, lacking morals and ethics (similar to any other law abiding society).
- The nature of human sapient psychology, ie. inclinations to competition, greed, popularity, envy, lack, hunger etc. led to many violent acts against the individual both psychologically and physically because of what these vortexes' procured, and/or were believed to incite. Numerous isolated assault incidences, throughout the energy's evolution and purported "mea culpa" as reported and assessed by police investigators and the government, were mimicked and recreated through the vortexes' fluidity
and sapient assimilation, ie. happening to more and more people. Because of personal liberties and preferences for personal safety, the willingness of the populous to find and demand law, reason, and freedom from violence of all kinds, was naturally also perpetuated. Infrastructure of politics and law, if you will, due to increasingly random (yet somehow repeated) acts of life-threatening violence become a definite must needs.
- Statistics not made readily available to the public, and new laws not made known to the public, so as to protect the rights and liberties of the individual afforded to every citizen, allowed for, in the second millenia AD/CE, an elicited uprising of illegal activities, inhumane harm, and mass psychosis.
- Need thorough investigation of a time frame and context so as to afford the opportunity (through Census and survey) of delegating necessary tax funds to the appropriate public sectors for rehabilitation of electronic media, prisons (for those deemed of criminal consequence in society), virtual law provisions, social welfare programmes (for appropriate civil management).
- Restructuring of the government perhaps a future possibility eg. Theocratic government
- Restructuring or retraining of CRTC, FCC in media literacy
(alliance of civilizations, UNESCO, police involvement)
- Would different graphic reproductions/images/audio-visual representations of known folkloric and popular culture elements help those who's frequency sensitivity has caused sensory damage (mental disorder/psychosis) in need of, or beyond, repair? Would something akin to Coles Notes or the like proliferate a kind of psycho-socio balance or semblance of stimulus plateau? What is needed to balance the stimulus that leads ultimately to social duress and stress due to social mania and criminal activity?

Innovation in medicine and healing

American Indians introduced the early settlers to smoking, which they used both medicinally and ceremonially. Pipes were most often used, although some tribes prepared and smoked cornhusk cigarettes.
The Indians smoked a variety of dried wild herbs, blended with a small amount of tobacco. Consequently, the nicotine content of their smoking was minor. The American Indian also used tobacco as a sacrificial offering, a medicine, and an effective insecticide.

Mullein is a common biennial cosmopolitan herb whose leaves can be gathered and dried any time during the growing season. The Indians smoked the dried leaves in their pipes for the relief of sore throats, asthma, coughs, congestion, and inflammation of the lungs. Many tribes made a sweetened infusion of the leaves and roots for use in relieving the same symptoms in children.This plant can be poisonous unless used in moderation.

the Alliance of Civilizations (AoC) Media Fund program for evaluating psychophysiological responses to media is a good place to start. The AoC is part of the organization's "Rapid Response Media Mechanism" that is dedicated to oversee and attempt to guide the content of a variety of media outlets including Hollywood. With the goal of creating "...religious and cultural pluralism as a global value", the AoC is supporting research into "...the process by which images of violence and humiliation affect physiological responses and behavior." is a

Hello,
I am applying based upon your advertisement in the Winnipeg Free Press. I feel that I could bring many qualities to the position such as being a multi-dimensional artist, having a passion for cultural dissemination as well as being on the cutting edge of textile and sonic artistry. I am close to completing an M.A. programme in folklore wherein media studies, customs, and folkloric research and archival methods were paramount. I have also looked into attending Parson's or Central St. Martin's schools of design. Textile arts and its research have long been of terrific fascination for me. As a photographer I often pursue fashion photography. I do find advertising most enticing, and feel I could garner a lot of attention for the museum through public outreach (in school's, boutiques and counter-cultural groups). I have been a community liaison for several years through volunteer activities, such as radio broadcasting.
I am continuously researching the fashion world's activities and have a love of textiles and its commodities. "Spirited" Manitoba certainly needs a museum of this kind to propel the province's, and more so, Winnipeg's culturally viable entities on to national stage. A museum is inherently collected artefacts from times past but I feel to keep the Costume Museum of Canada in a conceivably fashion forward mode, one should consider exhibitions that contrast the past, present and the future. What of collections such as, "Tribal Essence in Fashion" showcasing both the vintage and contemporary textile forays of perhaps, Dior? Keeping the museum's supporter's interested and knowledgeable of its activities would be a welcome challenge. A newsletter perhaps, with financial and exhibition projections, as well as the public visiting the museum (through survey) may entice. Internet technology must be current with the museum's activities and solicit attention. Graphics, museum capacities and ideology would capture the Costume Museum of Canada's experience in the cyber world.
I am well-spoken, determined, scholastically inclined and eager. The requisitioning of artefacts, and the exhibition of items would utilize, and enhance my folkloric and artistic qualities. In American History in the tenth grade, I created a magazine project on American woman's colonial fashion, abetted by research at the Dugald Costume Museum. I have an avid interest in the styles at Ragpicker's Fashion Emporium, and often look to the past when creating photographic fashion tableaux. I come from a cultural heritage wherein textiles were of utmost importance and a national symbol. Could the museum not showcase national costumes in congruence with say, Folklorama?

I just read the most funny blog. It was by an American individual, and included information about his Icelandic wife. And to leave me even more flabbergasted, he has a penchant for malenky horror shows! Blimy and coo-ee!! I was actually searching for a Jolaglogg recipie, and blech, there he was! I am making the most gorgeous Yuletide dinner for my beau and I (together over one year now!) We will have a roasted duck, wild rice stuffing and ratatouille. I am hoping he will help cook, although he generally makes food for the both of us. We are hoping to have champagne, orange juice and peanut butter balls on the 25th in the morning. We haven't yet got a tree but we want a small one for our apartment. Bony M rock and rollers! Yep, I am in the festive season!

Here's the shiz.... the chill is the biz.
Permutations abound.
Recently acquired some terrific music from my sister and friend Nikki (the other Nikki Lebowski). Haven't really been taking as many photographs as I would like but have many plans for some gorgeous shoots. Just have to pursue it. I am planning on trying to lay down some beats and slam rock over them. Pursue it.
I hope to switch the time of my radio programme so stay tuned for the new information. More than likely it will be Mondays 2-4 CST, on www.umfm.com, or 101.5 FM in Winnipeg.
I must admit I have been exceptionally defiant of late. And with due cause. "I was fit then...these songs fall into my mind...I'll pay that money back when I get my hit song."
I look forward to reading Elizabeth Hand's, "Generation Loss" as well as plenty of other terrific texts to be had at the library.

Here I am, yet again doing my radio show at www.umfm.com. I am playing an eclectic mix of what I thoroughly enjoy, as well as some things that I have not yet encountered.
I am planning on attending a wedding this weekend, one of my very good friends is getting hitched. Apparently we still look like twins (the bride and I). As a jest in seventh grade, we were twins for Halloween (my birthday by the way).
I attended the Jazz Festival all last week, taking photos for my portfolio. Montreal is still on my mind (moving there that is), I just have to find the means in which to make it possible. The original rude girl in the big metropolis...I can't wait.
I am attending the Winnipeg Folk Festival this year. It should prove to be an exciting event. Transcendence, music and culture. Camping should prove enjoyable. I haven't camped in ages... Just danced around the studio to some Morrissey. Wicked track.

the days of antiquated tv broadcasting. The Muppet Show, Goonies... Cyndi Lauper. I am doing my radio show at the moment. Often think of Video Hits on CBC, 5 pm weekdays, with Samantha Taylor, the NFB of Canada's commercials often shown on Saturday mornings before cartoons.

Glastonbury Festival...

When I wake in the morning, I often feel like I am cautiously making my way out of a tent at the Glastonbury Festival (which is not so much of a dream really as I have done it). The music begins, and sic transit gloria mundi... another day has dawned. "What can I experience today?" I ask myself. Most often I experience the projections of other people's negativity; their "social disease". I venture far and wide in my thoughts and actions. Seraching for the next hit, or "decisive moment", as Cartier-Bresson likes to call it. A photographer's mind in a land of unsuspecting suspects, some aware some not... all thinking (cf. de Bono). I wonder who my Maestro will be for the day? Roots Manuva, Juliette Lewis...we build our own truths.

I have to write this poem of mine, that wells in my chest like an unharnessed tempest. It dispells passions of the kind Lilith herself had experienced. Finno-Ugaric, Western Northern Germanic, Ainu, Inuit, a zeitgeist of teas I long to savour, have tasted. Wave upon wave of our cultural mosaic, this literacy, like De Bono, always thinking, cursedly aware. Terrorism; I find it difficult to believe that so many individuals find my presence unbearable, even in this age of no contact... You should be singing. You should sing. Freedom. life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It was never there. It never was. How can I feel remorse for having lost something which never existed in the first place? You can not take that away which one never possessed in the first place. Ethereal spirit.

Hello one and all...

I suppose in a way that sounds very vain of me...assuming people would be reading my blog. Somewhat of an exhibitionist I suppose. I am again at UMFM, doing my weekly radio stint. I had a themed entrance into the evening...death and rebirth. A requiem for a wiccaning one might say. I found myself tossed somewhat unceremoniously into the mix.
Caught some dutch and norwegian radio stations recently. I really find it fascinating. I suppose that is why my thesis topic for my MA in folklore is on St.John's local campus and community radio station. I have yet to complete it.
I have tried in vain to upload some images to my blog but to no avail. I do hope to have some in the future. Check out the Urantia book's "thoughts to ponder" for some absolutely amazing tid bits to get you through the day.

At UMFM again. Just had an interview with a local act called Trouveres...Went off without a hitch. Had an impromptu session. Thoroughly enjoyed myself. They find the Winnipeg music scene to be assuredly saturated with talent. Good to know. Trying to head back to Iceland this fall for the Iceland Airwaves Festival. It would be my second time in attendance. Cheers to all those Irish souls out there...Have a blessed St. Patrick's day!!!
